On August 2nd, Melanie Mark, BC Minister of Advanced Education, Skills and Training visited us at Potluck.
We were so glad to host this amazing community leader. The Minister grew up in East Vancouver, and has lived experience of many of the issues that her constituents deal with. Coupled with an impressive career advocating for children and youth and urban indigenous organizations, Minister Mark can really talk shop about the issues close to Potluck’s heart, namely training and social justice.
She is the first female First Nations Member of the Legislative Assembly of British Columbia and subsequent Cabinet Minister, and our staff, many of whom identify as Metis and First Nations, were honoured to host her for a quick lunch.
